by Cristina

If you’ve been patiently waiting for this, the Sapphire Scuba Hoodie III has finally hit US stores. I got mine in Canada about 4 weeks ago and really love it.

Thanks for the heads up! Having lived in so cal, I never took the leap on a Scuba but now that I'm in the Bay Area I'm thinking it's about time I buy one. I really love this sapphire color but haven't heard the best things about the Scuba III and am wondering if I should hold out for this color to come out in a diff hoodie like the on the daily hoodie which I've tried on and really like! Or since I'm a hoodie newbie then I won't notice the difference in all the various scuba versions? I'd appreciate any thoughts, thx!

I'd say give it a try if you're interested, despite the negative things that you've heard about it. I've learned that, while reviews and such can be helpful, that it's always best to try something for yourself if you are interested in it. Personally, I very much prefer the Scuba IIs and don't really like the Scuba IIIs – the Scuba IIs are just more flattering on me than the IIIs, and I prefer the look of the IIs on me – but that doesn't mean that you won't like the IIIs. I say give it a try and see what you think! 🙂 If you haven't tried a Scuba II, then maybe it would be a good idea to try one on and see what you think of the fit and how you feel in it to compare with the III, and then decide which one you like best and whether or not you would want to wait for a colour you like in the Scuba II – perhaps you'll like both!

I've poo-pooed the scuba III but only because it's comparable (by name) to the scuba hoodie II and to me they are completely different. I like the Scuba III in it's on right. I'd say the Scuba Hoodie III is closer to the On The Daily Hoodie but warmer. I bet you we won't see any On The Daily Hoodies until Spring, and the Scuba III is the Fall/Winter version. I vote try it out in a color you love. There is no guarantee that we will see any other hoodie in Sapphire.

I'm glad the US finally got this one – I know there have been lots of people waiting for it. On the other hand, I'm wishing for the Cranberry Ghost Dot Scuba II that the US got a few weeks ago. Really hope we'll see this one uploaded in Canada soon.

I saw it in store today. I've been waiting for this to arrive in the US, but I'm seriously disappointed in the color! I know it's heathered, but I was hoping it would be a little more vibrant in person. It's very very dull, to the point where it looks worn out. So bummed!!

My interest is piqued by anonymous@8:59… i really like this color if it is in fact a very dusty duller blue (I hate bright colors and love neutrals), but I remember seeing it online in Canada and it looked much brighter. I had actually written this off thinking it was bright, so if it is "worn out" looking, I would love it! (I know that is weird, but hey, I own it) 🙂
LLM (or @8:59), is the picture above representative in terms of color do you think? It does look dusty above.
Thank you!

It's heathered, so it is more of a muted sapphire blue than if it wasn't heathered. I find the heathered colours to have more of a 'washed' appearance which makes them a bit more 'broken in' looking and not quite as bright and new looking as the non heathered ones. Hope that helps a bit. I did see the Sapphire Blue Scuba III in store and in the store lighting it was definitely a more washed and broken in looking colour – not as bright as I was expecting it to be from seeing it online. I quite liked it actually – I just didn't purchase it because I prefer the Scuba IIs instead.

I ordered the regal plum CRB in RULU light. Online the fabric was indicated as luon light, but it is wrong. It is soooooo buttery soft, opaque, and flattering. I just wore it as a layering piece on a hike and I am in love. I hope Lulu will make more CRB in rulu light.

I've read some comments from others who have had the opposite experience with the new Rulu Regal Plum CRB! I've read that it is thin and unflattering compared to the Luon Light CRBs or any of the other Rulu Light items… Sometimes it's so hard to tell what something is going to be like if we can't see and try it in person first. I guess I'd have to try it for myself to really know how I feel about it. I know a lot of people have had negative things to say about the Heathered CRBs, but I recently purchased two of them and actually quite like them!

It is rulu light so not as thick as rulu. It is difficult to compare the thickness between rulu light and luon light especially since there are so many variations in luon light. I would say they differ mostly in fabric stiffness with luon light generally being more stiff. They definitely look different on. Absolutely give it a try and form your own opinion.
